1. In order to become a duke you either had to be related through blood or marriage or have a grant.
2. Dukes were the highest level of hierarchy amongst nobles, next to counts
3. A feudal ceremony is where a noble is sworn to their liege.
4. Dukes were in charge of protecting the king and the land. They also had to listen to the problems of the peasants, and finding a solution.
5. Many of the Pope’s advisors were sorcerers.
6. The first public library’s appeared in the 4th century, although most people preferred to have their own, private libraries.
7. 17th century clothing had very full sleeves, and higher waistlines. They also had very tall or wide hats.
8. There are over 100,000 islands on the earth.
9. Ships were often less than 200 feet long, and had three masts.
10. Records show that slavery existed in 1760bc. Records of this are found in
Code of Hummarabi
